Getting Started

Call for an appointment to have lab work performed. Once you visit our office, our technicians will test your blood for counts of lipids, CBC, thyroid, glucose levels; and a urinalysis is done as well. We also do an ECG (Electrocardiogram) and an ELG (Electrolipogram), which is a fat/lean body mass analysis. This test determines the quantity of BMI (Body Mass Index).

Weight loss is usually not covered by insurance plans. However, some insurance companies will reimburse an insured individual especially if they have more than one risk factor (comorbidity). Associated risk factors include: hypertension, hyperlipdemia, insulin resistance or any other factors that are detrimental to the patient’s health. Our office will file a claim with your insurance company to see if you can be reimbursed. Our general lab profile is $250.00. If extended lab work is required, the price is subject to change.

The first visit with the physician includes a small physical, an in-depth discussion about results of the test that were administered, a written prescription for medication, and a caloric diet plan. The caloric diet plan will depend on the patient's original weight at the start of the program. If a patient desires to participate in the Pounds & Inches Program, the exam will be a little more detailed. The cost for the first visit with the physicial is $75.00, and subsequent visits are $60.00.   The patient is seen monthly by the physician to monitor weight loss and to receive an additional prescription, which may be filled at a local pharmacy.

Sometimes being overweight is not the fault of an individual. You may have what is known as Syndrome X. A blood test can determine if you have this factor. If so, it can be controlled by medications to regulate and steady your body's metabolism to a normal operation, thus allowing your body to lose weight.

Following are some signs of Syndrome X:
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Low HDL
  • High LDL
  • High Triglycerides
  • Overweight by at least thirty pounds
  • Body Mass Index of thirty or higher
  • Hypoglycemia Symptoms
  • Abnormal Glucose Tolerance Test
  • High Uric Acid

If any one of these symptoms applies to you, then you are likely to have the insulin-resistance syndrome or metabolic syndrome, and you are at significant risk for developing health problems, mainly diabetes. Also, weight can contribute to hypertension, joint pain, breathing problems, and can also cause sleep apnea along with other health related problems.

The main goal of our office is help you lose weight, but most importantly we stride to ensure that you maintain your desired weight after the excess weight is loss.

After accomplishing your goal weight you are welcome to come to the office for a weigh in and another ELG to see if you are maintaining your weight loss at no charge.

So give us a call today and we will be glad to arrange an appointment for you.
